Additional Program Details

CLOWN COLLEGE – A fun filled, entertaining, yet very educational class taught by Professional “Shriners” Clowns. Learn costuming, balloon sculpting, make-up, tricks, gags and everything involved with professional clowning. A great program offered on Wednesday evenings for anyone from ages 8 to 99. You’ll be entertaining friends and family in no time.

C.P.R. INSTRUCTION – Taught by American Red Cross Instructors. Both Adult and Infant / Child courses are offered.

FIRST AID TRAINING – Taught by American Red Cross Instructors.

BABYSITTING CERTIFICATION – Taught by American Red Cross Instructors. Learn all the ins and outs of becoming a first rate and confident babysitter.

AFTERSCHOOL YOUTH BOWLING – All children earn scholarship money for future educational needs by participating in this after school clinic on Wednesdays. Youth are taught the fine points of the sport by certified bowling coaches. Program runs from September to mid May with all games played at AMF Boulevard Lanes.

HOLIDAY CAMP – A fun filled day of games, arts & crafts, sports and swimming. The program is offered on all school closings including holidays, teacher conferences and weather related days off (provided that the building is open for business). This program is not held for early dismissals from school. A snack is provided, however lunch must be sent in with the child.

POOL PARTIES – Have your child’s next birthday party here at our facility. Get an hour of swimming in our heated pool and an hour of party time in a private party room. Two (2) hours of time are included in the price with additional hours available for an additional fee. Bring your own Food, Cake and Refreshments. A great party experience, especially during the cold weather months. Weekends only.

FAMILY FUN FRIDAY NIGHTS – A great way to spend quality family time together in our swimming pool, new game room or playing in the gymnasium. We supply pizza and juice to top it off.

FRIENDS, FUN & FITNESS – A program specifically dedicated to our “Special Needs” members. Every Wednesday evening our “members with special abilities” team up with our general membership for exercise, games and swimming. This program is designed to allow participants to experience “Acceptance By Inclusion” in the everyday events and options here at the Center.

CO/MHAR HARMONY BASEBALL PROGRAM – This program is a joint venture between the Philadelphia Phillies, Co/Mhar and the Northeast Community Center centering on teaching and allowing the mentally and physically challenged to play indoor baseball, regardless of their physical limitations or personal abilities. Any age is welcome, both ambulatory or wheelchair bound. There are no boundaries as to what we can accomplish in playing the game of baseball. Snacks provided. Offered on alternating Wednesdays evenings and Saturday afternoons.
- COMPUTER CLASSES – Anyone can still learn and get comfortable on a computer with this program. The class teaches the basics of maneuvering your way around a computer. Adults and seniors alike are much more comfortable on a computer after this class. Classes held on Tuesday Mornings for four (4) weeks.
- LITTLE PICASSO’S – A multi media art program for children ages 4 – 9 offered on two (2) different days, Saturday mornings and Wednesday afternoons. Class includes mixed art projects, painting, paper mache’, washable and water colors, 3D penciling and self-portraits.
- SUNDAY IS SOCCER – A co-ed youth program that is instructional, yet competitive for ages 5 – 6 / 7 – 8. Skills and fundamentals are taught, followed by organized games in our indoor gymnasium. Sunday mornings for eight (8) weeks.
- INTRO TO SPORTS - An introductory co-ed program for children ages 5 – 8 learning fundamentals and skills, then practicing and playing what they’re taught. Sports included, but not limited to; basketball, hockey, soccer, baseball and football.
Classes are held for eight (8) weeks on Monday evenings.
- YOUTH BASKETBALL CLINIC – A co-ed youth clinic type setting for children ages 8 – 10. Basic instruction for those needing the fundamental skills, taught by experienced coaches. An eight (8) week program offered on Monday evenings.
- LITTLE ROLLERS – An introduction to gymnastics for youth ages 7 – 11 years old. Class includes instruction in tumbling, cartwheels, back bends, handstands, back handsprings, front and back rolls. Offered for eight (8) weeks on Sunday mornings.
- “4 H” ARCHERY SHOOTING CLUB – Youth ages 10 – 15 are invited to learn the fine art of archery shooting by a “4-H” certified instructor. This program promotes the highest standards of safety, self-discipline, behavior and sportsmanship.
The class is offered on two (2) different days and times, Tuesday or Thursday evenings for five (5) weeks. Class fee includes “4-H” membership dues.
